Ivy Mix was born and raised in rural central Vermont. She received her BA from Bennington College in 2008 with a double focus in Philosophy and Fine Arts, concentrating in Art Theory and Photography. Ivy’s work is minimalistic and sculptural, and addresses the issues of substance and surface. Rather than a mode for representation, Ivy exposes the true nature of the medium by stripping away the representational quality. What remains are the basic elements of photography: the paper and the hues of the chemicals used that are otherwise hidden behind the imagery of the photograph.
