Janelle Iglesias

Janelle Iglesias received her MFA in sculpture and extended media from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond in 2006, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2009.  Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, most recently at Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City; P.P.O.W Gallery, New York; the Queens Museum of Art; and the Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris.  In one of her ongoing series, Janelle collects and repurposes saved objects from her family’s home and public disposal areas, refashioning these discarded but once well-loved objects into “Bower Installations” that mimic the domestic habits of the bower bird.  (kill your darlings), part of the Bower Installation series, was created specifically for Piles and creates a nest-like environment that is at once comforting, nostalgic, and visually arresting.  For more information, please visit her website at http://www.lashermanasiglesias.com.
